Coutume develops home goods and textiles using the highest quality natural materials. Every piece is handcrafted and carries the ancestral mastery of its artisan, along with traditional techniques passed down through generations.
Coutume builds bridges between traditional makers and the global market. We create economic opportunities for small producers, associations, and families, with a focus on prioritizing women. We foster harmonious, sustainable relationships with our partners and follow Fair Trade principles to ensure healthy work environments.
After studying fashion design in Paris, France, Céline Gaiardo joined Louis Vuitton’s luxury design studio as a textile designer.
A few years later, she moved to Guatemala to design textile collections for a weavers' association. Two years into the field, she developed close relationships with her partners and the community and decided to continue promoting these artisans internationally. In 2017, she founded Coutume in France.
The studio is now based in Oaxaca, where Céline designs and produces handcrafted home goods in collaboration with artisans from Mexico and Guatemala.
