Coutume designs exclusive home collections in collaboration with master artisans from Guatemala and Mexico. We construct timeless pieces bridging old-world tradition and new inspiration.
We develop unique designs with the highest quality textiles and natural fibers.
Every piece is made by hand and carries the ancestral mastery of its artisan. The collection blends contemporary style with traditional techniques passed down from generations.
We create harmonious, sustainable relationships with our producers and follow Fair Trade principles to ensure healthy work environments. We partner with associations, small producers, and families to create exceptional products.
After studying fashion design in Paris, France, Céline Gaiardo joined Louis Vuitton’s luxury design studio as a textile designer.
A few years later, she moved to Guatemala to design the textile collections for a weavers association. Two years into the field, she developed close relationships with her co-workers and community and decided to continue promoting these artisans internationally. She founded Coutume in France in 2017.
Since 2020, the design studio has been based in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she designs and produces home goods in collaboration with artisans from Central America.
