Fruit Bowl Asa, Pink Clay

We source these pieces from women producers of Sierra Mixé, one of the most traditional areas of Oaxaca state. We collaborate with a family of sisters, who got their ceramic and design skills from their mother and grandmothers.

Using the coiling technique, these potters build their pieces without a wheel and then polish them delicately. They use local clay and sand that they mix together, which gives this natural soft pink color. The dark features are created by the fire and are unique.
